Buddies Lunch Success

On Friday 6^th October the Chemical Engineering Society welcomed the Freshers to the department at the Buddies Lunch.   

Organised by the Department Representatives Azuria Kamel and Nick Curum, the afternoon proved quite a feat with over a hundred individuals attending.  With joint efforts made by 4^th and 2^nd year students catering was provided for as well as the introduction of the ‘Oil Rig Challenge’. 

Buddies worked with groups of 1^st Year students in a contest to build an oil platform with a rotating drill bit made from stationary and a coke can. With a quick briefing on the guidelines and with only 40 minutes build time it wasn’t long before students rushed to come up with a design and create a working model. 

Fun was had by all and there were many creative models, some of which could have been displayed in the Tate Modern! 

The winner was Group O led by Katrina Jacks and group members were presented with prizes from the Society by the Chairman Ahmed Chowdhury.
